John Avirett


John joined Greenspring Associates in 2005. Previously, he served as an Associate at Zurich Financial Services. John is responsible for the sourcing and due diligence efforts on fund, direct and secondary investments. John also helps manage Greenspring Associates’ Portfolio Impact Program. John currently serves on the board of Workfront, Assent Compliance, Volition Capital, Altos Ventures and Shasta Ventures. He is a board observer of WalkMe, Demandbase, CloudFlare, Gigya and UserTesting. Additionally, John played a meaningful role in Greenspring Associates’ investments in Chewy (Acquired by PetSmart), Zulily (Acquired by QVC), GrubHub (NYSE: GRUB), Nutanix (NYSE: NTNX), TeamViewer (Acquired by Permira Funds), SolidFire (Acquired by NetApp), ScanSafe (Acquired by Cisco), Mavenir Systems (Acquired by Mitel), Medialets (Acquired by WPP), Turn (acquired by Singtel), euNetworks, Mulesoft, Namely, Fuze, Lithium Technologies, Intrinsic Therapeutics, Kareo, MapR Technologies, Cyara, The RealReal, Woowa Brothers, Ticket Monster and Everything But the House.

John graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Economics. John also studied via an exchange program at the University of Wollongong in Australia.
