John joined Greenspring Associates in 2005. Previously, he served as an Associate at Zurich Financial Services. John is responsible for sourcing and due diligence efforts on fund, direct and secondary investments. John also helps manage Greenspring Associates’ Portfolio Impact Program. John currently serves on the board of Assent Compliance, Volition Capital, Meritech Capital, Columbia Capital, Elephant Partners, Bedrock Capital, Peakspan Capital, Silversmith Capital Partners, Shasta Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, and Altos Ventures. He is a board observer of Workfront, WalkMe, Demandbase, CloudFlare, Scopely, Docker, and UserTesting.

John played a meaningful role in Greenspring Associates’ investments in Chewy (Acquired by PetSmart), Zulily (Acquired by QVC), GrubHub (NYSE: GRUB), Nutanix (NYSE: NTNX), TeamViewer (Acquired by Permira Funds), Mulesoft (NYSE: Mule), euNetworks (Acquired by Stonepeak), SolidFire (Acquired by NetApp), ScanSafe (Acquired by Cisco), Mavenir Systems (Acquired by Mitel), Gigya (Acquired by SAP), Medialets (Acquired by WPP), Turn (acquired by Singtel), Lithium Technologies (Acquired by Vista Equity Partners), Namely, Fuze, Intrinsic Therapeutics, Kareo, MapR Technologies, Cyara, The RealReal,, Turnkey, Ticket Monster and Woowa Brothers.

John graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Economics. John also studied via an exchange program at the University of Wollongong in Australia.
